If he has a bounce back season this could be an excellent signing. If he doesn't have a bounce back offensive year he still brings enough to the table in other areas of his game that I don't mind the money at all.

I thought it was kind of high for the season he had last year but I guess all the other crazy deals that are being signed don't help.

Good deal. If he settles somewhere between his last two years statistically, this is spot-on. I worry about losing his as a UFA in two years., but this contract is just what I expected.

Why not go to arbitration? The arbiter would have sided with the Leafs offer after a 7 goal season.

Maybe, but arbitration always hurts the relationship between the player and the team.

It's a good deal and it doesn't burn bridges with a player you may want to keep if he returns to form.

You don't want the bad blood that would ensue. It pretty much writes his ticket out of town first chance he gets.

Burke is a big advocate of "doing the right thing" imo. Scored 30 goals for him 2 seasons ago, he works hard... Awarded him with a fair contract

I think saying he scores 30 again is a stretch... He'll be a consistent 20 goal scorer that plays 2 way hockey

Fair enough. Maybe Weber didn't like being arbitrated last year, and now look what happened.

a hard forechecking, defensively responsible forward capable of 20 goals with less than 3 mill cap hit and a number 5 dman with great size and untapped offensive potential.
...both young and in need of rebound seasons, so, sell low and buy high?
no thanks.

Thanks Captain obvious. Are you arguing that it's not likely?
